Where the time is being lost

The avgโ€“best gap is holding around 0.7โ€“1.3s
The record is still 0.552s from 7 Jun S3, and the last four sessions (28 Junโ€“12 Jul) have mostly stayed in that same 0.66โ€“1.3s band. Front runners run closer to 0.2s. The next step is turning the occasional great session into the new normal.
Sub-20.5s is becoming a habit, not a fluke
8 laps have now broken 20.5s, 6 of them in a single session โ€” 12 Jul S2, which also set the new PB of 20.164s. Henry Clark's outright best is still 19.056s (24 May), but the gap to the fastest driver on track hit a new low of 0.921s in 12 Jul S1.
Warm-up keeps improving
Opening lap gap to session best dropped to 0.629s in 12 Jul S2 and 0.735s in 12 Jul S4 โ€” right up with the best sessions on record. It's not solved everywhere yet (12 Jul S1 was 4.7s off), but the good sessions are getting more frequent.
Best 3 vs worst 3 still varies
7 Jun S3 remains the tightest ever at 0.8s between best-3 and worst-3 laps. The July sessions ranged 2.5โ€“5.7s โ€” better than May, but there's still a handful of mid-session slow laps to iron out each time.
Race pace vs practice pace
Practice PB 21.039s (29 May). Race PB 20.164s (12 Jul S2) โ€” nearly a second faster in races than in solo practice. Buckley raises his game under pressure. Bring that race-day intensity into practice sessions.
Std deviation: the 7 Jun benchmark is still standing
Lap time std dev: 3.457s in 10 May S1 โ†’ 0.365s in 7 Jun S3, still the tightest session on record. 28 Jun S2 (0.702s) and 12 Jul S4 (1.138s) show sub-1s sessions are becoming more common, not just a one-off.

Things to try next session

Pick one corner, nail it every lap
The remaining 0.7โ€“1.3s almost certainly lives in 1โ€“2 corners. Before the session, pick the corner that feels most inconsistent and focus only on that โ€” same braking point, same turn-in, every lap.
Use lap 1 as a reference, not a flyer
Opening lap is now close to race pace in the best sessions (0.6โ€“0.7s off). The next step: make that the standard every session, not just the good ones โ€” treat lap 1 deliberately, hitting every reference point cleanly.
Count sub-20.2s laps as the session goal
Instead of chasing a single best lap, target how many sub-20.2s laps to do. 12 Jul S2 had 2 โ€” the most yet. Next target: 4. Then 6. Shifts focus from peak pace to sustained pace โ€” which wins races.
Watch the mid-race drift
The worst laps often happen mid-race once the adrenaline of the start wears off. A mental reset trigger at the halfway point โ€” a breath, a cue word โ€” keeps pace honest throughout.
Target: match Henry Clark's average
Henry Clark's session average runs ~19.8โ€“20.2s. Buckley's best session average is 21.387s (7 Jun S3). That 1 second gap is the specific, measurable target for the next few race days.
Keep uploading the data
The biggest gains came from understanding what the data showed between race days. Checking which lap was slowest and making one specific adjustment is worth more than any amount of general coaching.
