19.452s PB, down from 25.169s on day one
57 race sessions and over 900 clean laps since 10 May — a 5.6-second improvement in personal best, and 4 race wins along the way (26 Jul, 9 Aug, 23 Aug, 20 Sep). The curve has flattened since August, which is exactly what you'd expect as he closes in on his current limit rather than making the big early jumps.
26 Jul S5 still holds every consistency record
The actual Grand Prix he won remains unbeaten on avg-best gap (0.135s), std dev (0.109s) and best-3-vs-worst-3 (0.245s). Closest recent challengers: 19 Aug S3 and S5, both under 0.16s std dev — proof the ceiling is reachable again, just not beaten yet.
Kart 6 is now the outright #1 fastest kart, and it's not close
10 outings in Kart 6 this season, including the new outright PB: 21.302 (2 Aug) → 20.322 (3 Aug) → 19.847 (23 Aug) → 20.156 (6 Sep) → 19.576 (6 Sep) → 19.976 (13 Sep) → 19.666 (13 Sep) → 19.74 (27 Sep) → 19.577 (27 Sep) → 19.529 (27 Sep) → 19.452 (4 Oct, PB). 6 of his top-10 fastest sessions ever have come in this kart — including several of his quickest, #3, #5, #6 and #7 bests. This is no longer a pattern, it's a fact worth acting on every time it's available.
Sub-20s pace is now a regular occurrence, not a fluke
35 laps under 20 seconds across the season, 66 under 20.2s, 143 under 20.5s — the vast majority landing since early August. What used to be a standout single lap is becoming a normal part of a good session.
The Nojus Sadauskas rivalry is a genuine coin flip
Across 18 shared race sessions since 12 Jul, Buckley's been faster in 8, Nojus in 10 — still the closest, most competitive rivalry on the board. Small enough gap to be a realistic near-term target rather than an aspirational one.
Henry Clark's session-average record is still the number to beat
Henry's best single-session average is 19.955s (26 Jul S2). Buckley's best is 20.782s (26 Jul S5, the same day) — a 0.83s gap that hasn't moved much since. It's the clearest single target for "most complete session," separate from chasing a single fast lap.
Three wins, three different kinds of session
26 Jul came off the most consistent session of his season. 9 Aug came off a solid but unremarkable session (std dev 0.501s, no records broken). 23 Aug came in the biggest field yet — 7 drivers. Good results don't require a perfect session, which is worth remembering on the average days.
The "last session of the day" pattern didn't hold up
26 Jul's win and 10 Aug's PB both came in the final session of the day — but 23 Aug's PB came in session 3 of 4, and 6 Sep's PB came in session 2 of 3. 2 out of 4 isn't a pattern worth planning around. The more honest read: a settled, longer session helps, regardless of exactly where it falls in the day.
September field check: 12th of 22 on best lap, but it's tight
Across all September sessions (including club sessions Buckley didn't personally race in), his 19.576s ranks 12th of 22 drivers on best lap — but the gap from 1st (Henry Clark, 19.145s) to 12th is only 0.43s. This is a closely bunched field, not a big gap to close.
Things to try next session
Chase the 26 Jul S5 feeling, not just the lap time
19 Aug S3 and S5 both got within 0.05s of that session's std dev — proof it's repeatable. The target is recreating that whole-session control regularly, not just on a big race day.
Target: beat Henry Clark's 19.955s session average
This has been the single clearest benchmark for months and hasn't moved. A session average under 19.955s would be a genuinely new tier, not just a faster single lap.
Push sub-20 laps from "sometimes" to "most sessions"
35 sub-20 laps is real progress, but they're still concentrated in a handful of standout sessions rather than spread evenly. Next goal: at least one sub-20 lap in every session, not just the best ones.
Kart 6 has earned its reputation — keep requesting it
6 of his top-10 sessions ever are in this kart, including the last two PBs. This has moved from "interesting pattern" to "known quantity" — worth actively asking for every session where it's available.
Close the gap on Nojus specifically
18 sessions in, still basically 50/50. A small, targeted improvement — even half a tenth — would likely tip this rivalry decisively rather than keep it a coin flip.
